About

This seminar organized by the Transition Design Lab explores the relationship between artificial intelligence and decision-making within organizations.

Designed as an experimental and reflective space, it questions the role of AI not only as a tool but as a potential actor in organizational decision processes. Based on concrete situations shared by partner organizations – SNCF, MAIF, BPCE, FNCuma, 110 bis (Ministry of Education), Artemis – participants will be invited to:

  • describe real decision-making situations, with or without AI,
  • identify the parameters, actors, and values involved,
  • imagine how AI could be introduced into these situations and assess its impact on coordination, hierarchy, and responsibility.

The seminar will result in a collective mapping of AI uses and potentials in organizations, as well as a shared reflection on how AI transforms decision cultures and practices.

Program

09:30 — Welcome and introduction

Opening remarks by Giulia Marcocchia and Annie Gentès.

10.00 — Guest talk: AI and organizational decision-making

Presentation by Chantal Joie La Marle, Head of CSR at SNCF, on AI-assisted decision models. 

11.00 — Workshop 1: Identifying decision situations

Collective work: identify and describe concrete decision-making situations in participating organizations, specifying the actors, tools and criteria involved.

14.00 — Workshop 2: Introducing AI into decision-making

Small group work imagining how AI could be embedded into the previously identified situations - exploring roles, boundaries, and consequences.

16.00 — Collective discussion

Group presentations followed by a discussion on organizational, ethical, and human implications.

17h00 — Wrap-up and perspectives

Summary of key insights and presentation of future research directions.

Outputs

  • A collective mapping of current and potential uses of AI in decision-making.
  • A written restitution published on the Transition Design Lab website.
